The ALQUEMA flagship store occupies Shop 7-9 on Level One of the Queen Victoria Building, in the centre of Sydney. Every ALQUEMA dress, coat, and set is hand-pleated using a technique the label has practiced in Sydney for more than 40 years. The QVB store shows that work up close.

A custom-made clothes rack runs through the centre of the store. Each piece hangs from it on its own, the way a gallery hangs a painting, print and pleat visible from every angle. You can read a product description online. In the store, you can watch the pleats hold their shape and catch the light as you move around them.

The Queen Victoria Building opened in 1898. Its Romanesque Revival architecture, stained glass windows, and central dome have made it one of the most recognised buildings in Sydney, and one of the few from that era still standing in its original form. ALQUEMA's flagship occupies Level One inside it.
